Temporal Lift (Temple Lift) and Lateral Brow Lift in Istanbul

A temporal lift raises the outer end of the brow and the tissues at the outer corner of the eye and the temple upwards and outwards. With age the outer brow descends and gives the eyes a tired or sad expression. A temporal lift aims to refresh the look by lifting this area through small incisions in the hairline.

Who is it suitable for?

  • People whose outer brow has descended

  • People with sagging at the outer corner of the eye and the outer upper eyelid

  • People with early descent of the upper cheeks

  • People whose inner brow is in place and only the outer brow has dropped

How is the operation performed?

A small incision is made in the scalp on each side at the temple. Through these incisions the tissues are released in a deep plane, moved upwards and outwards and fixed. An endoscope is used in suitable patients. The operation can be done under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia and usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours. If needed, it can be planned together with upper eyelid surgery or a midface lift.

A natural look

The aim of a temporal lift is not to make the eyes look slanted or tight, but to bring descended tissue closer to where it was before age-related change. Over-lifting can create an unnatural expression, so the amount of lift is planned to suit the rest of the face.

Recovery

Swelling and mild bruising usually decrease within 7 to 10 days. Because the incisions are within the hair, the scars are hidden. A feeling of tightness at the temples may last a few weeks. Most patients return to social life within 7 to 10 days.

Will a temporal lift make my eyes look slanted?

Yes, in suitable patients it can be done under local anaesthesia with sedation.

How long does a temporal lift last?

The effect usually lasts many years; the duration varies with skin quality and lifestyle.
