Mini Facelift in Istanbul

A mini facelift is a more limited operation than a full facelift that corrects early sagging of the lower third of the face through shorter incisions. It may be preferred by people whose jawline is starting to lose definition and whose cheeks have begun to descend slightly, without marked sagging of the neck.

How it differs from a full facelift

In a full facelift the incision runs from in front of the ear to behind it and into the hairline, and the face and neck are lifted together. In a mini facelift the incision is mostly limited to the front of the ear, and the cheeks and jawline are the main targets. Shorter surgery and faster recovery are the advantages, but its effect is limited for advanced sagging and neck laxity.

Who is it suitable for?

  • People with early loss of jawline definition

  • People whose cheeks have begun to descend slightly

  • People without marked neck sagging or bands

  • People who want a shorter recovery and expect a limited change

How is the operation performed?

A mini facelift can be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia and usually takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Through the incision in front of the ear, the SMAS layer beneath the skin is suspended or folded to tighten it, and excess skin is removed. Volume loss can also be addressed with fat grafting if needed.

Recovery and how long it lasts

Swelling and bruising usually decrease noticeably within 7 to 14 days, and most patients return to social life after 1 to 2 weeks. How long the effect lasts depends on skin quality and the degree of sagging; the effect of a mini facelift usually lasts less long than that of a full facelift. If sagging is advanced, a full or deep plane facelift may be a better option.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age is a mini facelift done?

There is no fixed age limit; it is most often chosen by people in their 40s and 50s with early sagging.

Yes, in suitable patients it can be done under local anaesthesia with sedation.

How long does a mini facelift last?
